Why private by default matters

Accountability systems fail when participants fear exposure. BU starts from private-by-default because privacy is part of system architecture, not a marketing layer.

Accountability systems fail when participants fear exposure.

Barakah Union starts from private-by-default: trust profiles are private, governance access is tightly scoped, and collaboration spaces are not public by default.

This design choice supports honest participation, safer resolution processes, and better long-term trust. Privacy is not a marketing layer — it is part of system architecture.

Default toward privacy, controlled disclosure, and minimum necessary exposure. Important actions should be capturable as proof and evidence where appropriate, but always under the participant's control.
